Publishing Your Book, Step by Step

Every great journey begins with a first step. And that first step is to send us your manuscript so we can review it for publication. When you submit your manuscript to Chiado Books, it is completely secure. We guarantee not only the security of your manuscript—which will be used solely for the purpose of a publication review—but also the confidentiality of your submission.
Our team will evaluate it and make a proposal
Once we have received your manuscript, we will review it promptly and get in touch with you. Whether or not we are interested in publishing your manuscript, we will always contact you to inform you of our decision. If we are interested in publishing your manuscript, we will draw up a clear and transparent publication proposal, which we will present to you in writing.
We’ll polish your text and create the book’s design
Once we have reached an agreement on the publication of your book, we will work on it to ensure the best possible end result. We will design the cover and the interior in line with your ideas and suggestions. We will only proceed to print the book once the cover and interior are exactly as you wish. If you consider it necessary, we will also carry out a spell-check on the manuscript.
We’ve put together a promotional plan for your book
Once all the design work has been completed, whilst your book is being produced at our print works, we will draw up a promotional plan for your book. This plan will be sent to you, and our communications department will always be on hand to provide whatever support it can.
We distribute your book worldwide
Your book will be available to buy online worldwide from various bookshops and marketplaces. Your book will also be available in various bookshops, both to order and as a physical copy. However, it is important to have realistic expectations and to realise that it will always be the bookshops that have the final say on whether or not your book is stocked, where it is stocked, and for how long.
As the author, you are paid for each copy sold
Once the book is on the market, the author will be paid for each copy sold. The author will also have access to a private area of our website where they can track the number of copies sold. In that same section of the website, the author can request payment of their royalties.
